Email Language

The language of your email should be very clear and free of grammatical errors. Long and stretched sentences should be avoided. Convey your message in short and simple sentences.

Some points to be noted regarding the language of your email.

  1. First and foremost, avoid using internet language in your email. People have the habit of using “u” instead of “you”, “r” instead of “are” and so on. This kind of language usage gives a very bad impression in the professional world.
  2. The tone of your language should be polite and harsh words should not be used until the context of your emails requires that.
  3. The grammar, punctuation, spelling and accuracy are as important in email as in writing professional letters. So before hitting the send button, always do a spell check and read it once to check for any grammatical mistakes.
  4. Use of exclamation marks and ALL CAPS should be used sparingly in professional emails. These can give negative or annoying impression to the reader.
